Luke & Jenny take the gospel to Europe

photo

It has been a fruitful and happy summer for our family. In the end of June, Jenny took Joseph and Julia to Shanghai to visit their grandparents. It was their first time to meet Julia. Though the weather there was unbearable- hot and humid, the kids enjoyed the attentions the grandparents gave them, and the special Chinese food. Julia learned to crawl, stand with support, and her only two teeth were popped up while she was there. Joseph learned swimming and attended a month of summer camp with other Chinese students. His Chinese has improved greatly.

While the kids were well taken care of, Jenny and Luke were able to minister together in Europe for almost a month. Luke led a week of a Gospel and revival conference in Germany and Jenny shared in workshops about self-image, marriage and parenting. About 150 people came and many of their lives were being touched. They rededicated their lives to the Lord, and 4 were baptized. There were many counseling and prayer ministries because people needed comfort and encouragement. Finishing the work in Germany, Luke was invited to speak in the Zurich Chinese Church in Switzerland for a weekend. We met many Chinese professionals who work there, and were able to connect and build relationship with them. God is gracious to give us a couple days of rest in this “earthly heaven” before our next intense schedule of conferences in Italy. Luke led an annual retreat of Chinese churches of northern Italy and Jenny helped with children and youth programs in Milan. The retreat was non-stop from morning till night for 1500 people, and by the end of it, Luke was exhausted. But by His grace, the results were fruitful. People responded to God’s messages and many came to the front to confess their sins and dedicate their lives for Him. We had extra 2 days after the retreat and were given an opportunity to see Rome and Vatican. Our last stop in Rome, the prison where Paul was jailed and the place where he was martyred, strengthened our faith in God. It also made us to think deeply about life and ministry.

Thank you for your faithful prayers and support for our ministry. In fall, Luke will have mission trips to far-east and Europe, and will share in mission conferences in America. Please continue to remember us, our family, and the ministry in your prayers. May God richly bless you.

Why be concerned about missions?

If the ratio of Christian workers to total population that exists in North Africa were applied to the U.S. and Canada, those two countries would have about 120 full-time Christian workers living in them. Also, there would be only 7 small churches in the entirety of those two countries.
Here's a visual representation of that what the church situation in the U.S. and Canada would look like if the North Africa worker-to-need ratio was applied to those two countries:
